The Outlook for RBA monetary policy

2021-09-292021-09-29 by Matthew Johnson

The RBA seems set to pivot away from unconventional policy. Encouraged by foreign tapering, and the slower pace of ACGB issuance, I expect them to trim QE by 2bn per week, to 2bn/wk in Feb’22. The looming review of the RBA makes a hawkish cash-rate surprise unlikely.
